Yo-kai Watch event returns to Final Fantasy XIV tomorrow!

It’s the spirit-catching season in Final Fantasy XIV with the "Yo-kai Watch: Gather One, Gather All!" collaboration event returning on April 24. Running until the launch of Dawntrail, players can participate in FATEs in select regions to earn Yo-kai Watch minions, weapons, and mounts

Yo-kai Watch is a popular Japanese game originally developed by Level-5 for the Nintendo 3DS back in 2013. The premise centers around a hero who uses a special device called a Yo-kai Watch to meet and befriend unique “Yo-kai” or spirits that have been haunting a whimsical city. But don’t worry, the Yo-kai aren’t modeled after the ghosts and ghouls you see in horror films. Yo-kai are cute and colorful like supernatural Pokémon, making them ideal minions for minion-collecting Warriors of Light.

How to participate in the "Yo-kai Watch: Gather One, Gather All!" event.

Head to Ul’dah (X:9.2 Y:9.1) for a chat with the Poor-heeled Youth to pick up the event quest which, upon completion, will get you your own Yo-kai Watch and Medallium. Note that if you’ve already completed the opening quest during the first run of this event, you don’t have to do it again. From there, just equip the Yo-kai Watch and you’re ready to start clearing FATEs in select regions across Eorzea to collect Yo-kai Medals–the event currency you’ll be using to exchange for any of the 17 Yo-kai minions available at the Gold Saucer (X:5.2 Y:6.9). Keep in mind that players must complete FATEs with either gold or silver ratings to be eligible for Yo-kai Medals.

The Yo-kai Watch must be equipped while clearing FATEs to earn Yo-kai medals.

There are also Yo-kai Legendary Medals that can be earned and exchanged for special Yo-kai-themed weapons! All you have to do to gather this special event currency is have the Yo-kai Watch equipped and a Yo-kai minion out while participating in eligible FATEs. The weapon you can exchange for your Yo-kai Legendary Medals corresponds to the minion you had out while running FATEs. For completionists, collecting all event weapons will take some time seeing as there’s a unique weapon for each of the 17 Yo-Kai.

How to get the Yo-kai event mounts

There are three event mounts, and each is obtained by collecting a certain number of Yo-kai minions or weapons. Here’s a breakdown of what you need for each mount.

Event mounts: Jibanyan Couch (left), Whisper A-go-go (middle), Whisper-go (right)
