A Tribeca Festival special event is bringing together generational Final Fantasy VII creators

The team behind Final Fantasy VII Rebirth just announced a special event going down at this year’s Tribeca Festival in New York City. Called “From Fire to Firaga: Remaking Final Fantasy VII,” the director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Naoki Hamaguchi, and the producer and director of the original Final Fantasy VII, Yoshinori Kitase, will be getting together at the SVA Theater on 23rd to discuss the ins and outs of remaking this iconic game.

The event is set for Friday, June 14, with tickets going on sale next week on Monday, April 29, on the Tribeca website. Here’s a description of the event from the Tribeca event page.

“Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Yoshinori Kitase, the producer of the game and director of the original Final Fantasy VII, discuss what it was like remaking the beloved classic and bringing an iconic cast of characters to life in the modern age. With technology so much more advanced than when the original game launched in 1997, what narrative techniques did they use to update and reimagine a story that many video game fans consider one of the greatest tales ever told?”

Tribeca is an annual film festival that celebrates films, music, art, and games with significant cultural and social impact. The fact that Final Fantasy VII booked a slot in this prestigious event is a testament to its generational relevance. With the releases of Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth, new generations are falling in love with characters whose stories were first told back in 1997.
