Final Fantasy: Legend of The Crystals first came out in 1994 in Japan and on December 9, 1997 on VHS. This was the first Final Fantasy Anime and is very true to the sears, a group of adventurers setting out to save the Crystals from being taken by an evil force and saving the world in the process. This is a great show containing 4 episodes (2 30 minute episodes per VHS) with both good action and humor. The story is basically a great evil force comes to the planet (Planet R) to take the 4 crystals (Wind, Fire, Earth, and Water) to become an invincible supreme bean. As the story progress you learn more about the crystals and the cast of heroes that come to gather to save the world. One thing I loved about this anime was that the heroes are not your normal heroes, the team has a female Summoner who can only summon a Chocobo, a cocky boy that wealds a huge Katana, a Ghost, a captain in the royal army, and a pirate. The way these characters come together, interact, and the stuff they go though are great. I highly recommend getting this anime if you are a fan of Final Fantasy, it comes on 2 VHS tapes and you can either get a dubbed version or a subtitles version. Unfortunately there are no plans by Square-Enix to rerelease this on DVD.
