Final Fantasy IX was released for the PlayStation on July 7, 2000 in Japan and brought over to America on November 14 of the same year. Final Fantasy IX finally gets back to some of the original elements of the Final Fantasy series. IX takes the full advantage of the PlayStation's graphics and makes a really nice looking game which takes place in more of a fantasy world then the past few Final Fantasy games. The game centers around a Thief named Zidane Tribal and the princess of Alexandra, Garnet Til Alexandros 17th and there struggle to save, at first, the princess's kingdom but they end up trying to save the world. The battle system is nothing new to Final Fantasy players but Square did change how you learn your abilities and spells. Now all that is learned when you have certain weapons equipped and after battling for a certain time you permanently learn them. The story to the game is pretty strait forward which makes it kind of fun the first time you play though, but due to some really slow parts in the game, it is really hard to sit down and play it again. Now if you like to play the mini-Games that come with the Final Fantasy games you will love IX, it sports a whopping 25 mini-Games/side quests for those that want more then just a story. Many people have said this was the worst Final Fantasy game out there, but some people really like it. My suggestion would be to either barrow it from a friend or rent it for a bit and check it out before buying it to see if you like it.
